Long-time Correlations in the Stochastic Regime

چکیده

The phase space for Hamiltonians of two degrees of freedom is usually divided into stochastic and integrable components. Even when well into the stochastic regime, integrable orbits may surround small stable regions or islands. The effect of these islands on the correlation function for the stochastic trajectories is examined. Depending on the value of the parameter describing the rotation number for the elliptic fixed point at the center of the island, the long-time correlation function may decay as t or exponentially, but more commonly it decays much more slowly (roughly as t). As a consequence these small islands may have a profound effect on the properties of the stochastic orbits. In particular, there is evidence that the evolution of a distribution of particles is no longer governed by a diffusion equation.

Simulation of Long-term Returns with Stochastic Correlations

This paper focuses on a nonlinear stochastic model for financial simulation and forecasting based on assumptions of multivariate stochastic correlation, with an application to the European market. We present in particular the key elements of a structured hierarchical econometric model that can be used to forecast financial and commodity markets relying on statistical and simulation methods. The...

Modeling Gasoline Consumption Behaviors in Iran Based on Long Memory and Regime Change

In this study, for the first time, we model gasoline consumption behavior in Iran using the long-term memory model of the autoregressive fractionally integrated moving average and non-linear Markov-Switching regime change model. Initially, the long-term memory feature of the ARFIMA model is investigated using the data from 1927 to 2017. The results indicate that the time series studied has a lo...

Particle and particle pair dispersion in turbulence modeled with spatially and temporally correlated stochastic processes.

In this paper we present a model for modeling the diffusion and relative dispersion of particles in homogeneous isotropic turbulence. We use a Heisenberg-like Hamiltonian to incorporate spatial correlations between fluid particles, which are modeled by stochastic processes correlated in time. We are able to reproduce the ballistic regime in the mean square displacement of single particles and t...

Investigating the Short- run and Long-run Causality Relationship between the Exchange Rate Regime and the Real Exchange Rate Misalignment in the OPEC Countries

Real exchange rate misalignment means that the real exchange rate deviates from its equilibrium level and is the cause of many domestic and global economic problems. This index is considered as an important indicator in foreign competition and in case of adopting an inappropriate exchange rate regime; it may create economic instability and affect economic performance. This issue is important in...

A multi-stage stochastic programming for condition-based maintenance with proportional hazards model

Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) optimization using Proportional Hazards Model (PHM) is a kind of maintenance optimization problem in which inspections of a system relevant to its failure rate depending on the age and value of covariates are performed in time intervals. The general approach for constructing a CBM based on PHM for a system is to minimize a long run average cost per unit of time...
